Cabana (structure)

A cabana in Ayampe, Manabí Province, Ecuador.

A cabana or cabaña is a structure of either of these types:

  • a small hut built with a thatched roof, most commonly built in tropical climates near bodies of water.
  • a temporary or permanent free standing shade structure with traversing curtains, decorative drapes and/or solid walls; it can be fabricated from a variety of materials and in sizes. Cabana frames can be made of aluminum or steel with a polyester powder coat paint finish or other durable multi-layer finish or treated wood.[citation needed] Top covers, side walls and/or traversing curtains are made of exterior grade fabrics or thatched materials.[citation needed] Custom cabanas may include accessories such as solar, electrical wiring, ceiling fans, television mounts, partitions, dressing rooms and air vents.
